Stranger Things Among Most Popular Netflix 2019 Releases

Netflix released data on its most-watched shows and movies, and it’s no surprise that both Stranger Things and Umbrella Academy top the list.

Deadline provided lists of the most-watched movies, TV series, nonfiction releases, documentaries, comedy specials, international releases and family-friendly series. In terms of the TV category, Stranger Things hit the number one spot, with Witcher coming in second. Other series to crack the top ten include Umbrella Academy, Dead To Me, You, When They See Us, Unbelievable, Sex Education, 13 Reasons Why, and Raising Dion.

 

On the movie side, the top spot when to Murder Mystery, followed by 6 Underground and The Incredibles 2. Other movies to crack the top ten include The Irishman, Triple Frontier, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, The Highwaymen, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Secret Obsession.

In general, Murder Mystery was the most watched program on the platform, followed by Stranger Things, 6 Underground and The Incredibles 2.

 

The rankings are believed to be based on the accounts that have watched at least two minutes of any given show or movie during the first 28 days of its arrival on the service. The numbers for shows that have not been out for 28 days — such as The Witcher and You Season 2 — are based on current projections. Netflix only counted the most popular season for series that air multiple seasons over one year.
