Lakers Star Kobe Bryant Dies in Helicopter Crash

Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar and five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant died on Sunday, Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash. He was 41 years old.

TMZ reported that Bryant was a passenger on his private helicopter that crashed in the Los Angeles County suburb of Calabasas at around 10 a.m. At least 3 other people were on board at the time. Aside from Bryant and the three others, one more person was reported dead from the incident, bringing the total to five. The cause of the crash is unknown and is currently being investigated.

 

Bryant was among one of the greatest basketball players of all time. An 18-time NBA All-Star and five-time NBA champion, Bryant held and broke numerous NBA records. He was voted MVP of the NBA in 2008 and won two gold medals with the USA Men’s Basketball team in 2008 and 2012.

Bryant retired in 2016, scoring 60 points in his final game with the Lakers against the Utah Jazz. The Lakers went on to win the game 101-96.

 

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa, and daughters Gianna, Natalia and Bianca and Capri.
